C.H.I.L.D. Protocol™ Scales

Assessment Tool

A comprehensive assessment tool to assess 0 to 7 year old children as early as possible.

I share with early childhood development and education professionals the dream to have ALL zero-seven year old children comprehensively screened, assessed, and treated as early as possible.  I am referring to every child effectively may have complete at least an annual medical and oral exam, nutritional, behavior, and developmental screenings that will provide information on actual concerns that may impact the child’s growth and potential development.  And that ALL professionals responsible for the follow-up assessment and the intervention will act promptly to the concerns, so preventive services and early intervention may be put in place so they can develop their fullest potential.

Screening process is a brief and preventive identification of potential problems, and evidence shows that the earlier the child’s development is screened—the greater the chance to identify risks of development. Our proved experience is that 30% of the children screened will show one or more concerns in the tool. If they received immediate follow-up and early intervention, 20% of them may reach their age/stage level of development after 6-12 months of early intervention and planned activities, and 10-15% of them will need more intensive and long-term early intervention services.

A collection of 23 interdisciplinary scales of development covering birth to 7 years of life.

23 Interdisciplinary Developmental Scales

Excerpt from the C.H.I.L.D. PROTOCOL™ GUIDE, volume 1, Chapter 1, How to Use the Scales.

The C.H.I.L.D. Protocol™ is a collection of 23 interdisciplinary developmental scales to be used to measure and follow up through a comprehensive approach to the child’s development. It collects data regarding life and medical history, physical health, neurophysiological, Sensoriperceptive, psychomotricity, communication, cognition, and socio-emotional development. The protocol covers chronologically the typical (expected) development and flags atypical development from birth to 7 years’ period.

Each scale listed here is not intended to be used as a diagnostic tool. It enhances awareness and provides a first look at a child’s developmental process and the presence of risk factors that may impact the child’s full potential.
